Walmart Support Ticket Creation Process for UPC/GTIN Exemption.


Walmart requires the products you sell on its marketplace to have a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number). Your products will be removed from their platform if you don’t have a GTIN exemption.

You can apply for an exemption from this requirement in some circumstances. For example, if you would like to sell jewelry pieces on Walmart.com that do not have Product IDs (e.g., private label or handmade jewelry), you can request special authorization to sell these items. 

  1. On Walmart’s Help Center, select Get Support > Items and Inventory > Request exemption > UPC exemptions.

  1. When you get to their Help article, scroll to the bottom and select No under "Did this solve your issue?" This will allow you to contact Walmart support about the exemption.

  1. Select the Open case via live chat or Open case via email options and answer their questions.

Please Note: Walmart is not guaranteed to provide an exception even when the products meet the criteria mentioned above.
