How does Auto SKU Generation work?
The SKU is the core identifier for synchronizing inventory and orders. Problems can occur when merchants do not provide an SKU for a product, leading to synchronization issues.
To address this problem, it is crucial to assign a unique SKU to each product variant.
The great news is that our application includes an automated SKU generation feature, ensuring that the necessary SKUs are created and linked within the application without any concern on your part.
How to enable the auto SKU generation feature?
Please follow the steps to enable this feature:
- Go to the settings in the app and click on the General Settings
- Enable "Automatic SKU Generation" by checking the checkbox
- Once clicked, please click on the "Update Settings"
- You can disable the SKU generation feature anytime later.
How to use the auto SKU generation feature on eBay?
If the SKU is not in your Shopify or eBay products, you can easily generate it. Let's see how the SKU generation works.
The picture below shows that the Shopify product doesn't contain SKU for the variants.
You need to have the automatic SKU generation feature enabled to make it work. After you have enabled it, let's try to upload it to eBay. A guide to uploading products to eBay can be found by clicking here
Once the product has been successfully uploaded to eBay, you can go to "eBay Products" in the app and view the latest product.
The SKU is generated and automatically updated in the eBay product. If you view the "Shopify products," you can also see that the Shopify product has been generated an SKU and linked.
How do you use the auto SKU generation feature on Shopify?
We have an example eBay product that we would like to export to Shopify. However, this product doesn't contain the SKU, causing it to not properly sync the inventory and order once exported. To solve this, we can use the app's Auto SKU generation feature.
Please enable the feature as stated above. Once enabled please create the product to Shopify. You can create individual products or export the products in bulk using the feature. Please refer to this article on how to export by clicking here
Once the product has been successfully exported to Shopify you can go to "Shopify Products" in the app and view the latest product.
As you can see above, the SKU has been generated and updated.
Please note that the SKU generated is not applied directly to the Shopify product. It is generated and linked within the app.
Once successful both the products will linked by the generated SKU. So you do not need to worry about the sync in both platform
