How do I set the custom inventory when uploading from Shopify to eBay?

eBay limits the seller on the listing that can be listed and sold. You can easily view your seller limits by visiting your eBay seller hub. So for this case, you can either request eBay support to increase the limit or limit the inventory sent to eBay while uploading products from our app.

The Good News is that you can set the custom inventory for eBay products while uploading from Shopify to eBay using our application.

Please Note: This will only help you upload more products and will not increase your Selling limit. To increase the selling limit, you need to connect with eBay support.

Let's learn how to set the custom inventory in our application and upload products to eBay from our app:

  1. When you select the products/collections to upload, you must create or choose the existing profile. If you need any help uploading products to eBay, please take a look at this guide.

  1. On the profile creation page, you will find the "Inventory Settings". Enable the inventory settings "Override inventory with fixed inventory for eBay products" and enter the quantity you want to upload.

The minimum quantity override should be greater than 0. Once you have filled out the form and the rest of the profile, you can proceed to upload.

Please Note: If you have less than the provided quantity in Shopify, the quantity from Shopify will be synced to eBay. This will also apply to the Variation products.

For Example, if you have 3 inventory for the product in Shopify that you are going to upload but set the custom inventory to 5 in the profile, 3 inventory will be synced to eBay as 3 is less than 5.

Now let's understand how the custom inventory feature works behind the scenes when there is an eBay order.

Inventory sync for the uploaded product that overrides the normal quantity works differently than usual.

  1. Consider a scenario of a Shopify Product with 2 variants

Variant 1 = 30 stock

Variant 2 = 25 stock

  1. This product is uploaded to eBay by setting the custom inventory of 5. On eBay, the stock of the product becomes

Variant 1 = 5 stock

Variant 2 = 5 stock

  1. Now if there is an order for variant 1 on eBay with quantity 2. Now, the inventory sync will reduce 2 quantities from the Shopify product. And the latest inventory in Shopify becomes:

Variant 1 = 28 stock,

Variant 2 = 25 stock

  1. However, on eBay, even if you have already received orders for 2 quantities but you still have sufficient inventory in your Shopify product, variant 1 will be updated to 5 and restocked.
  2. The final Inventory will be:

Shopify:

Variant 1 = 28 stock,

Variant 2 = 25 stock

eBay:

Variant 1 = 5 stock

Variant 2 = 5 stock
